


Counselling falls under the umbrella term ‘talking therapies’ and allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general, it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives, or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
Our counsellors are not there to sit you down and tell you what to do. Instead, they will encourage you to talk about what's bothering you in order to uncover any root causes and identify your specific ways of thinking. Our counsellors may then look to create a plan of action to either help you reconcile your issues, or help you to find ways of coping.
Counselling does not come in a cookie-cutter format and each session is generally tailored to the individual. There is flexibility within this type of therapy that allows for a variety of counselling formats, including:
Hi, my name is Paul. I am an accredited Person-Centred Counsellor, this means I work with you to understand yourself and then overcome your challenges in life, in a supportive and effective way. A large part of my job is to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where we can work constructively and collaboratively together, to help you reach your goals. In addition to my strong Person-Centred approach to therapy and take from several other therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic approaches, to help clients in multiple different ways to support them with things such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts and bereavement.

Since the start of my career, I’ve had a passion for working towards helping clients achieve their goals and stepping forward in their lives. I have experience of working with Anxiety, depression, relationship issues and all forms of trauma, amongst many others, as well as working in different therapeutic ways, including CBT, humanistic and existential.
