Hi my name is Toby, and I founded BCS Mental Health Service, in 2015. The idea of this service, was to offer multi disciplinary services under one roof. In 2019 I was able to bring onboard a wonderful team of experienced and passionate therapists and support staff to help me deliver this. At BCS we are proud to offer a wide range of support including individual and couples counselling, hypnotherapy, as well as mental health training and workplace counselling packages.
As a therapist I use an integrative method, this means that I have the ability to use various approaches such as CBT, psychodynamic or person centred therapy so that my treatment is tailored to you.
Meet the Team
Practice Manager / Therapist
I have been a qualified counsellor for the last 20 years, after gaining a BSC Honours Degree in Behavioural Sciences, followed by Post Graduate Diplomas in Integrative Therapy; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Consultative Supervision at the University of South Wales. I have a wide knowledge and experience in the theory and practice of several therapeutic approaches, including, person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, brief solution focused therapies, motivational interviewing and mindfulness. I greatly enjoy working with individuals through often complex issues, working together to help them recognise, identify and achieve their goals.
Operating Manager / Hypnotherapist
I am a qualified Hypnotherapist and Head of Hypnotherapy at BCS Mental Health Services. I use a wide variety of techniques in the therapy room to help you get to where you want to be. Primarily I am a ‘Solution Focused Hypnotherapist’ which means that we work together on building a pathway to achieve your goal. In my practice I use a variety of techniques such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Coaching, Mindfulness, Neurolinguistic Programming, CBT and of course hypnosis during our time together. I am competent in a wide range of hypnotherapeutic techniques to help you feel better sooner!
I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor and I have recently joined the team at BCS. I have spent the last couple of years providing long term and short term counselling in a mental health service, working with clients presenting with a wide range of mental health problems and experiencing a variety of issues which include depression, anxiety, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress, general anxiety disorder, relationship problems, loss and bereavement, loneliness and isolation, life-changing events, family issues, work stress, addiction, confidence and self-esteem issues.
My main approach to counselling is a strong Person Centered base, which I use to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment, where we can work constructively and collaboratively. From there I am able to draw on several therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic approaches to work with my clients to ensure we find an approach that fits your needs most comfortably.
During my time I have volunteered with Cardiff and Vale Cruse Bereavement and Cardiff MIND, working with a wide range of client issues including; addictions, anxiety, anger, depression, low self-esteem, social phobia, stress & Bereavement and Loss.
Liz is the glue that hold our wonderful team together, she brings a wealth of experience to the team. Liz has experience in the counselling and hypnotherapeuticenvironments, making her the ideal first point of contact for our practices.
